Bolton By Bowland became the 3rd ParkPlay in the Ribble Valley and wow are they playing well.
The Ribble Valley's orinal model for launching ParkPlays was to use them to ignite multigeneration activity into rural areas, communities where its not always easy to access the means or infrastructure that is abundant in most towns and cities.
Bolton by Bowland has joined Dunsop Bridge and Hurst Green and has helped boost the visability of ParkPlay within this area.
What is ParkPlay?
ParkPlay is a 1-2 hour session of Play on a Saturday morning, it takes place every week of the year, and aims to build happier, healthier communities through play.
To do this it uses volunteers, who take some simple training on how to set up and engage attendees, week to week is hosted by a PlayLeader and a group of helpers. As its community led, pretty much everyone can help.
How as Bolton By Bowland boomed
Bolton by Bowland early on got a group of Volunteers who aimed to lead the launch, following step by step ParkPlays launch process, and quickly engaged a community into a successful launch event, immediately having a session full of buzz.
They took hold of the multigenerational approach, having known senior members, grandparents and parents of the community Leading and helping.
How as it helped surrounding ParkPlays
Three main stand out points have helped the surrounding ParkPlays,
the "noise" of another ParkPlay, the name is becoming much more well known, well heard in the Ribble Valley, now having 3 ParkPlays all welcoming people across the Ribble Valley, means more people are hearing it, its simple really, and then where ever they hear it, they can then go to their nearest, or even try all 3!
Bringing more interest into a non competitive, multi-games approach for all children and adults
Sharing the learning across the patch, what works well in each area, what we can learn from the newest start
How do I bring ParkPlay to my area
If you are in the Ribble Valley, its extremely simple, just get in touch! The agreement is already in place and paid due to the work, research and application of the original Dunsop Bridge ParkPlay 2 years ago. There are 2 more agreements in place to be taken advantage of. You then need a group of 4 original Volunteers to get the ball rolling.
If you are outside the Ribble Valley but within Lacashire, still get in touch with myself for a chat, if you have the energy of volunteers and community we will start making it work.

Whats next-beyond 10-11am
A major part of ParkPlay is helping provide a healthy place to bring the community together. Building connection between people in the community, Getting to know families better, strength and trust in community. And a place where a new family can go to meet and get to know everyone. It therefore falls out of the session in to other parts of the community, children being able to confidently join other sports clubs. meeting up to play games/sports outside of the sessions.
Bolton by Bowland show a strong community where they can spread the message fast through face to face, and trusted WA or FB groups
